Hilton Worldwide

Navigating Distinct Initiatives Within a Global Enterprise

My work with Hilton spans several years and multiple departments, each with its own objectives, constraints and operational realities. These were not extensions of a single initiative, but a series of distinct projects across design and construction, legal compliance, marketing, team‑member services and corporate operations. What connected them was the need for clearer structure, stronger systems and digital tools that could keep pace with a global organization.

Each project required meeting a different part of Hilton where it actually worked. Sometimes the focus was on data architecture — untangling how information was captured, organized and shared. Other efforts demanded systems integration or the redesign of internal applications that had become too rigid, too fragmented or too dependent on manual processes. In other cases, the work centered on content management, user experience development or front‑end design that helped teams do their jobs with fewer obstacles.

Although the initiatives were independent, the pattern of engagement remained consistent: understand how the department’s world functions, identify where the system works against its own goals and build structures that bring clarity, stability and momentum back into the workflow. Technical project leadership anchored everything — ensuring that the solutions weren’t just functional, but durable and aligned with how the organization needed to operate moving forward.

Across these engagements, my role was to give each team a digital environment that matched the scale and pace of their responsibilities. The result was a series of targeted improvements that strengthened operations in meaningful, localized ways — each one enhancing the reliability, clarity and confidence of the teams who relied on them.

Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego

Reframing a Digital Home for Contemporary Culture

My work with the museum was a response to a growing challenge common in cultural institutions: the digital environment no longer reflected the depth or dynamism of the organization. Content lived in rigid structures, exhibitions were difficult to manage and store operations depended on tools that weren’t designed to work together. The project required stepping back to examine how stories moved across the institution, where staff were losing time and how the public encountered the museum online.

The solution meant reshaping the underlying architecture — redefining how exhibitions, programs, publications and store inventory related to one another, and ensuring those relationships supported real workflows rather than complicating them. I established clearer content models, streamlined editorial processes and designed interactions that honored the museum’s identity while removing unnecessary friction.

The result was a digital home that better represented the museum’s role in the community: expressive, navigable and operationally sustainable. Staff gained clarity in how they worked, and visitors encountered the museum’s narrative with greater coherence and impact.

On the heels of other custom portal development engagements, Columbia College Chicago contacted me to build a Student Orientation RSVP solution. Columbia needed a solution that fit their unique style, integrated with existing information systems and worked within the constraints of the JICS portal application.

Crafting a clear message requires planned intention and skilled execution — it all happens by “design”. Admittedly, in our media saturated world, sending a clear message can be a challenge. I believe design, thoughtful design, beautiful design, original and creative design has the magic to stop people in their tracks and, despite the crowded competition, take notice.
